For parents and teachers

Safe bydesign.

About two thirds of the people we hope will enter are children. These are the rules we built around that.

01 · Consent

You stay incharge.

Ages 5 to 11

Node

A parent or guardian creates the account and enters on the child's behalf. One guardian account can manage several children.

Ages 12 to 17

Ray

The young person can start an entry, but cannot pay or submit until a parent or guardian has confirmed by email. The link is valid for 14 days and we send reminders.

Ages 18 to 30

Orbit

Adults register and consent for themselves.

If a guardian withdraws consent, the entries are withdrawn and any public display is removed within 24 hours.

02 · Contact

We write to you,not to your child.

Every email about a child under 12 goes to the parent or guardian. For ages 12 to 17, emails go to the guardian too. There is no messaging between jurors, staff or other users and young people anywhere on the site.

03 · What is shown

Very little,on purpose.

If a young person's work is published, we show only their first name, the initial of their last name, their age group and their country. For example: Ayesha R., Ray, Bangladesh. We never show a city, school or social media handle for anyone under 18.

Every image is checked by a person before it is shown. Every public image has a report link, and we remove reported images within 24 hours.

Location and device data is stripped from every photograph when it is uploaded. Jurors see work without names, schools, cities or file names.

04 · Schools

Entering asa school.

Schools and community organisations can be given fee waivers so that children can enter for free. Partners see only counts of how many codes were used, never any personal details of the children.
